The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of eccentric exercises of elbow flexor and knee extensor muscles on Creatine kinase, Lactate dehydrogenase and C-reactive protein in active men. ten active men volunteers participated in the study (age: 21.40±.51, high:177.30±6.56cm, weight:78.07±14.20 kg). Subjects performed three sets of 15 maximal eccentric contractions (1RM) of elbow flexors and knee extensors muscles. Range of motion was 90° for both muscles groups. Creatine kinase, lactate dehydrogenase and C-reactive protein were assessed before, immediately after, 24and 48 h following exercise. All data analyzed by using ANOVA with repeated measure with a between-subject factor and Bonferroni test. Significant changes in CK and LDH were observed up to 48h after both exercise bouts, but There was no significantly difference between elbow flexors (EF) and knee extensors (KE)(P≥ 0.05). The magnitude of CRP changes was not significantly. The results of this study demonstrate that the magnitude of the muscle damage is similar following maximal eccentric exercise of the KE and EF for active men. © 2016 The Authors.
